Charles King is an author, workshop leader, a mentor, and a superb inspirational speaker.
Charles. M. King is an author, a mentor, and a superb speaker. He was an organizational consultant for more than thirty years, and has worked with organizations in various capacities for more than forty-five years: first as a military officer specializing in guided missile technology; then as an instructor at the US Army's prestigious Air Defense Center; also as a commanding officer and staff officer in various US Army missile commands, including the sophisticated first generation Pershing Missile System program.
Following his eleven years of military service, which ended in the mid-sixties, Charles founded and managed a job training facility for disadvantaged and previously unemployable persons in Mansfield, Ohio. In this small community of 58,000 citizens, the agency was responsible for the successful placement of an annual average of one hundred persons in positions previously unavailable to minorities. This was accomplished at the height of the Civil Rights Movement. It was here that Charles came to realize the true nature and power of the human spirit. He managed the agency for three years, and the agency continued its services to the community for another seventeen years. Many of the persons placed in those jobs are now retired after careers that Charles helped make possible.
As Vice President of Marketing and Wholesale Sales at Warner Press, Inc. (in Anderson, Indiana), Charles led a team of fifty persons to double-digit growth each year.
Piecing together the experiences gained in each endeavor, Charles used these to start his own consulting company, Goal Development Systems. He led this small but highly effective company for more than thirty years. In the late nineties, the company's name was changed to the "Smart Way."
Charles' clients have included: Americhem, Inc., Babcock & Wilcox, Central States Can Co., Chrysler, Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., General Electric, General Tire, Goodrich, the former Goodyear Aerospace, The States of North Carolina and Ohio; Indiana Bell, Ohio Bell, Mayville Metal Products, New York Life, Ohio Edison, USEPA, US Department of Personnel, Wake County (NC) Government, and others.
Charles King is an avid student of the mind-body-spirit connection. After all his years of working in leadership positions and studying this connection, he is now convinced, beyond all doubt, that individuals and organizations function far below their capabilities. Charles says, "I have seen people—employees and managers—literally amazed and gratified by the potential they demonstrate in their lives when they learn how to tap into their vast Creative Spirits systematically, and to release their full potential."
Charles has developed another aspect to his illustrious career. He now draws on his vast experience and research to lead his clients to masterful living through the mentoring process that he has appropriately given that very name. Through this process, each client is shown how to bring out the rich potential available within.
In conversation with Charles you quickly come to know that there is a lot more to life than just being up for the moment. He does more than just speak empty platitudes. Charles has lived life to the fullest, even in the face of many adversities. His life's experiences have taught him how to face challenges head-on and win.
